The Mediaeval Places - cultural tourism project is open to those offering accommodation with genuine mediaeval origins.
Accommodation owners or managers who wish to join the Mediaeval Heritage Accommodation circuit share the project's objectives, which are as follows:
- to promote the historical identity, uniqueness and perceived quality of the circuit, the brand and of each single member offering accommodation.
- to promote the concept of "mediaeval tourism".
- to internationalize the circuit and the project.
- to extend accommodation demand throughout the year.
- to create customer loyalty in a target market of guests who share the "values" of authenticity, history, uniqueness and quality.
- to communicate consistency and total respect of historical identity and quality of the offer - uncompromisingly.
Accommodation structures wishing to join us must meet certain requirements. These are represented by the following indicators, whose relative importance is expressed as a percentage:
- a) genuine mediaeval origins (peso 51%):
- referring to the original foundation of the building and not to its current architectural appearance;
- building must have begun in the conventionally recognised Middle Ages: 5th to 15th century A.D.
- b) location in a mediaeval village, site or on a highly appealing mediaeval itinerary (25%);
- c) excellence of service, quality, welcome, elegance and charming atmosphere. This is calculated based on ratings published in the best international travel and hotel guides and/or an client reviews (24%);
- conformity to indicator (a) is sufficient to apply for membership of Mediaeval Heritage Accommodation.
- you can not apply if you only meet requirements (b) or (c).
- the Board of Trustees reserves the right to evaluate separately applications from accommodation that meets requirements (b) and (c), but does not fall into the time scale for foundation in requirement (a). An example might be an extra rating of 2% given to a building founded in the 16th century (therefore, after the 15th century), which is the only heritage accommodation existing in a highly appealing mediaeval village, with an excellent level of service.
Each member structure receives a Certificate of Authenticity of its mediaeval origins, confirming its membership of the
Mediaeval Heritage Accommodation.
The certificate is granted by the Board of Trustees of the Associazione MusiKé
,
which includes a historian of mediaeval architecture, a historian of miniatures and minor arts and a historian of art criticism. The certificate comprises:
